Importing Areas¶
You can import areas from external files in KML or GPX format.
KML Import¶
KML files (used by Google Earth) can contain polygons that are converted to user areas:
- Tap ☰ Menu → User Area
- Select import option
- Browse to and select the KML file
- Polygons from the file are added as user-defined areas
GPX Import¶
GPX files can contain tracks and routes that are converted to polygon areas:
- Follow the same import process as KML
- Select the GPX file
- Tracks/routes are converted to area boundaries
GPX waypoints are imported separately into the waypoint list.
Tip
KML import is useful for sharing competition areas or sensitive area definitions between pilots using different apps. Many competition organisers distribute area definitions as KML files.
