Wind History¶
While recording a track, JBalloonNav captures wind speed and direction at each altitude. This builds a profile of the wind conditions you experienced during the flight.
How It Works¶
Wind data is derived from your GPS track. As you move, the app calculates your ground speed and heading, which (for a balloon) reflects the wind conditions at your current altitude.
Viewing Wind History¶
Go to ☰ Menu → Wind History to see a table showing:
- Height — the altitude at which the wind was recorded
- Speed — wind speed at that height
- Direction — wind direction at that height
This gives you a vertical wind profile for the conditions you flew through.
Practical Use¶
- Post-flight analysis — review what the wind was doing at different heights
- Competition debriefs — understand why you drifted in a particular direction
- Share with other pilots — report actual wind conditions at the launch site
