Recording a Track¶
Track recording captures your flight path using GPS, storing position, altitude, speed, and wind data at regular intervals.
Start & Stop¶
Tap the tracking button in the button bar to start recording. The icon changes to indicate recording is active. Tap again to stop.
When you start a new track, you'll be asked whether to keep or delete the previous track.
What Gets Recorded¶
At each track point, the app records:
- Position (latitude, longitude)
- Altitude (GPS)
- Speed
- Bearing
- Timestamp
- Wind velocity at height (derived from GPS track)
Track points are recorded whenever you move at least the minimum distance from the last point (default: 25 m, configurable in Settings → Tracking → Minimum Distance).
Background Recording¶
To keep recording when the app is minimised or the screen turns off:
- Grant background location permission
- Enable Settings → Tracking → Track in Background
A persistent notification indicates that tracking is active in the background.
Screen On¶
Enable Settings → Display → Keep Screen On to prevent the screen from dimming during flight. This ensures you can always see the map without touching the device.
Prevent Sleep¶
The app can prevent the device from sleeping while tracking is active, ensuring continuous GPS recording even without background location permission.
