Map Themes¶

JBalloonNav renders offline maps using the Mapsforge library with customisable render themes. The default theme provides clear, readable maps with a style similar to Ordnance Survey maps.

Map text size (town names, road labels) can be adjusted in Settings → Display → Map Text Size (default: 1.0). Increase this value if labels are hard to read.

Scale Bar¶

A scale bar is displayed on the map to help judge distances. It updates as you zoom in and out. Toggle it in Settings → Map.

Zoom Controls¶

Pinch to zoom on the map, or use the +/− zoom buttons in the top-right corner
The map supports a wide zoom range from street level to country overview

Map Rotation¶

Map rotation is available as an experimental feature. When enabled:

Use a two-finger rotation gesture to rotate the map
The map can be oriented to your direction of travel instead of north-up

Enable rotation in Settings → Map → Enable Map Rotation.

Warning

Map rotation uses additional memory and processing power. On older or low-memory devices, it may cause performance issues. See Performance Tips.
