JBalloonNav can display nature reserves (Naturschutzgebiete) and other environmentally sensitive zones across Germany.

What's Shown

These overlays show areas where balloon operations may be restricted or require extra care due to environmental protections. Types include:

  • Naturschutzgebiete (nature reserves)
  • Landscape conservation areas
  • Other designated nature areas

Downloading

The nature area data is downloaded from a public data source:

  1. The download option is available in the app's area management
  2. Data covers all of Germany
  3. Areas are displayed as coloured overlays on the map

Display

Once downloaded, nature areas appear on the map alongside airspace and user-defined areas. Their appearance is distinct from airspace to avoid confusion.
